On 11th February in Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) two „shadows” were on a visit, who, following the Mr Jaroslavs Streļčenoks (Director of the KNAB) daily work, gained insight into the daily work of the KNAB.

This year „shadows” were Paula Kaufelde from the State gymnasium of Madona (11th class) and Aleksandrs Borkovskis from Russian secondary school of Daugavpils (12th class).

In the start of the day „shadows” had an opportunity, together with the Director of the KNAB, to visit TV 24 Riga’s studio and to participate in the live broadcast „Pulse of the City”. Cooperation with the mass media, giving interviews, as well as the participating in discussions is one of the Director’s day-to-day responsibilities.

In the second part of the day, in the KNAB premises, „shadows” were introduced with the specific and nature of the KNAB work, and in that scope the „shadows” had to answer to a few questions to find out how much they know about the corruption.

Meeting with the „shadows”, Mr Streļčenoks welcomed young people’s choice to shadow KNAB and to get answers to their questions about the KNAB work.

At the end of the day, young people acknowledged that they do not regret their choice to go to Riga and to become acquainted with the KNAB work. It was surprise for them that KNAB work is so multiform, because coming here they did not know that "KNAB is working not only in terms of political monitoring action, but also is performing prevention of the corruption risks and educational work, as well as performs control of the actions of government officials and financial control of the political parties".

This is a third year, when KNAB takes part in the „Shadows day” and gives opportunity to a young people, who are interested in the work of the institution and fight against corruption, to get insight in behind of the scenes of KNAB daily work.
