The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau participates in various anti-corruption events, initiatives, and discussions of anti-corruption issues organised by international organisations.
The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau:
- coordinates Latvia meeting its obligations under the United Nations Convention against Corruption. The Convention is the only universal legally binding anti-corruption instrument in the world;
- coordinates the implementation of the recommendations issued by the Council of Europe’s Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) in Latvia. GRECO aims to improve the capacity of member states to fight corruption by analysing existing national legislative frameworks and practices, making recommendations to support the fight against corruption and monitoring their implementation;
- regularly participates in meetings of the Working Group on Bribery in International Business Transactions of the Organisation for Economic Development and Cooperation (OECD), and implements the recommendations made by this working group, within the competence of the bureau.
The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau also regularly organises visits of foreign representatives to Latvia, with the goal of sharing institutional experience in preventing and combating corruption.
