On 2nd October of 2014 were held the meeting of the Public Consultative Council of the KNAB. During this meeting officials of the KNAB and NGO’s representatives discussed the questions about the project of the statutes of Public Consultative Council and about KNAB reorganization. The non-governmental organizations were presented by members of The Centre for Public Policy PROVIDUS , Society for transparency – TI „Delna”, Latvia` s Employers' Confederation, The Latvia`s Law Society, The Association of Commercial Banks of Latvia, The Latvian Association of Press Publishers, The Traders' Association of Latvia and Board of Ethics.
The Council conceptually supported to save the status of KNAB and strengthen the independency of Bureau. Members of the Council reviewed proposals for amendments in the Law on Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau, which was made by working group of the State Chancellery.
The Public Consultative Council was created in May of 2004. Its aim is to ensure the participation of the members of public in implementing of anti-corruption policy and education of society in Latvia. The Council seeks ways how to strengthen the link between KNAB and society.
The Council acts through regular meetings which are organized by KNAB.
The Council consists from non-governmental organizations. It provides recommendations how to improve KNAB's work (e.g. the health sector, corruption in courts system).
