The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau organises a press conference this Thursday 17 April at 13 with a view to introducing representatives of mass media with the draft concept developed by a working group on parties financing.
The working group has assessed the possibilities to finance political parties from the state budget. The concept puts forward three possible approaches.
The press conference will provide an opportunity to explain why there is a need to reform the party financing system and how democratic society will benefit from it, as well as what are the advantages and possible weaknesses of each of the proposed approaches.
To the press conference will participate Alvis Vilks, Deputy head of the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau and the head of the working group, as well as members of the working group Baiba Pētersone, Deputy Director of the State Chancellery, political scientist Jānis Ikstens and a representative of the NGO „Delna” (Transparency International Latvia).
The press conference will take place on 17 April at 13:00 at Elizabetes street 21 (hotel „Monika”).
