The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) on 2016 on its own initiative will verify the Declarations of Public Officials for a large number of Public Officials.

According to the Article 7 of the Law on Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau and the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest in the Activities of Public Officials, KNAB, with the aim to prevent conflict of interest in the action of the public officials, annually verify the declarations of public officials.

Indicating the persons, whose declarations will be verified, KNAB takes into account more often realized violations of the restrictions and prohibitions for public officials who are determined in the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest in the Activities of Public Officials.

Attention will be paid to public officials whose activities are linked to the allocation of the funding from European Union and other international institutions, and organizations.

In the list of the verified public officials are included Deputies of Parliament, new officials of the State Chancellery, Councilors of Ministers, Members of the Boards of the state and local government capital companies, officials from the State Building Control Bureau and the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia, together 151 official.

Also public officials designated in the posts of new government will be included in the list of verified persons.

Verifications will be carried out till the 31st December of 2016.
