The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) has sent to the Prosecutor’s General Office a criminal proceeding materials initiated on 2015, asking to initiate criminal prosecution against four state officials – officials of the the Prosecutor’s Office for the investigation of financial and economic crimes, Forensic Department of the State Police of Latvia.
During the pre-trial investigation, KNAB found out, that the state officials used their official position in bad faith and have made illegal actions with data of natural persons which become apparent as illegitimate acquiring and use of DNS samples of various persons.
The gained evidence witnesses, that state officials tried to request a bribe from a natural person in exchange for decision to cancel seizure (arrest) of property.
KNAB states that no one person is considered as guilty until his guilt of a criminal offence is proved in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Law.
