The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) has sent to the Prosecutor’s General Office a criminal proceeding materials, asking to initiate criminal prosecution against the Chairperson of the Board of the State Stock Company “Latvijas Dzelzsceļš” (Latvian Railway) for the accepting the offer bribe on a large scale – in the amount of 500 000 EUR.
During the pre-trial investigation, KNAB found out that state official accepted the bribe from natural person in connection with the procurement of the subsidiary “Latvijas Dzelzsceļš ritošā sastāva serviss” of the “Latvijas Dzelsceļš”.
KNAB states that no person is considered guilty until his guilt of a criminal offence is proved in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Law.
