The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) has started a social campaign “There is no future with corruption”, placing posters with traffic light.
Today, on 2nd May, in the campaign opening event, held in the premises of the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD), Mr Jaroslavs Streļčenoks, Director of the KNAB said, that every day on the street seen traffic lights symbolizes the essence of the poster – each one takes important decisions, when and what kind of meaningful steps to take in life. Sometimes they are very crucial.
Media was also addressed by Mr Andris Lukstiņš, Chairman of the Management Board of the CSDD, who said that social campaigns forms human consciousness and in this case social campaign gives a message, that corruption doesn’t have the future.
Mr Aleksejs Loskutovs, the Chairman of the Corruption Prevention Subcommittee of the Parliament of Latvia acknowledged that “Traffic light is in front of everyone in everyday life and it is a symbol for legitimacy. The simple sign will let to decide on a legal decision – against corruption.”
Mr Aivars Borovkovs, Chairman of the Public Consultative Council added a brief and laconic cognition “Traffic light is unbribable.”
Mr Jānis Endziņš, Chairman of the Board of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated, that corruption in the country is closely linked to the quality of public services. Time as quality is very important for entrepreneurs. If everything is sorted quickly, then there is no ground for corruption. CSDD is a good example to see, that service can be provided quickly and efficiently, without unnecessary bureaucracy.
Ms Krista Mārāne, the author of the design of the poster, explaining the idea of the poster, said that the red color is a signal that something is not right, but the green color – that everything is ok! It is the movement and life! While yellow color symbolizes a dilemma between wrong and right.
The aim of the social campaign “There is no future with corruption” is to encourage the society not to allow the corruptive actions in everyday life, when corruptive decisions and actions are taken.
The posters will be placed in the institutions, which are at the most likely risk of corruption, what was identified during the checks of the KNAB and during the social surveys.
As well as they will be placed in other institutions, which will show interest to participate in this campaign. Posters will be seen in Riga and other regions of Latvia, as well as on the buses which run between cities.
Taking into consideration that KNAB on 2016 takes large focus on corruption prevention in the business environment, posters of social campaign will be also placed also in business portals www.db.lv and www.rus.db.lv.
Pupils, their parents and teachers will be addressed through school management system - www.e-klase.lv.
Everyone user of mobile internet will see these posters using Lattelecom WiFi points throughout the whole Latvia.
