The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) has initiated a criminal proceeding against official from City Planning Department of the Jūrmala City Council for the unlawful requesting and receiving of a bribe in order to take a positive decision in private person’s interests.
To suspect person is applied a security measure not related to deprivation of a liberty – a prohibition to take positions in the Jūrmala City Council and its structural units, where decisions can be made regarding the others persons, and also supervisory, control or punishment functions are fulfilled.

KNAB states that no person is considered guilty until his guilt of a criminal offence is proved in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Law.
