The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) has initiated a criminal proceeding for unlawful requesting and receiving of benefits against employees of the departments of diagnostic radiology of these medical institutions: the State limited liability company „Rīgas Austrumu klīniskā universitātes slimnīca”, Stationary Center of diagnostic radiology „Latvijas onkoloģijas centrs”, the State limited liability company „Rīgas Austrumu klīniskā universitātes slimnīca” and Stationary Center of diagnostic radiology „Gaiļezers”.
Gained evidence, within the criminal proceeding, indicates that several medical employees, using its powers, in the group of persons with prior agreement, requested and received unlawful benefits from patients in exchange for arranging a health check with magnetic resonance bypassing row order.
KNAB states that no person is considered guilty until his guilt of a criminal offence is proved in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Law.
