The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) has sent a criminal proceeding materials to the Prosecutor’s Office of the Riga City Zemgale Suborb asking to initiate a criminal prosecution against the person for the misappropriation of a bribe (1st Part of the Article 321 of the Criminal Law) and for the instigating to give a bribe (1st Part of the Article 323 and 3rd Part of the Article 20 of the Criminal Law).
The gained evidence during the pretrial investigation,
witnesses, that the person, giving impression, that he is familiar
with officials from the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD),
instigated to give a bribe for transferring it to officials of the
CSDD and also of the State Police of Latvia, with aim to promote
cancelling of an applied driving ban of motor vehicles.
Mentioned person instigated to give a bribe in amount of 8150 EUR,
but he received it in amount of 6450 EUR and misappropriated
it.
KNAB states that no one person is considered as guilty until his guilt of a criminal offence is proved in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Law.
