Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) has sent to the Prosecutor’s General Office criminal proceedings asking to start criminal prosecution for bribery allegedly committed by investigators of the Economic Crimes Department of the State Police Criminal Bureau (ENAP).
The criminal case materials indicate that ENAP investigators misused their official position and in a group of persons by prior arrangement, demanded a bribe of 20 000 euros, and then accepted half of the previously requested bribe of EUR 10 000 for a favorable decisions in interests of the briber. Further, one of the ENAP officials disclosed state secret and the other official breached the circulation ban with regards to of the equipment adjusted for execution of special operational activities.
KNAB states that person is not considered guilty until his guilt of a criminal offence is proved in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Law.
