The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB), in realisation of priority stated in the strategy regarding to the procurement control and to officiate reccomendations of international organization OECD about combating the foreign bribery, in collaboration with The Lithuanian Special Investigation Service (STT), with mutual action coordination and to realise the information gained in the result of operational activities in the long time period, has started two criminal proceedings.
One criminal proceeding has been initiated in Lithuania where have been involved one offical of Lithuania and Latvian entrepreneur. The entrepreneur from Latvia gave bribe to the director of infrastructure department of Klaipėda State Seaport Authority in the process of construction tenders.
Other criminal proceeding has been started in Latvia. During pre-trial investigation actions, also in more than 20 conducted searches, the computers, phones, money (several hundred thousands euro) were taken off and several persons have been arrested.
The Head of KNAB wants to thank to the colleagues of the Lithuanian Special Investigation Service (STT) for the professional behavior and to the staff of Finance police of State Revenue Service for support in the performance of procedural actions.
