What unlawful activities are investigated by the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau
The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau prevents and combats corruption and monitors the financing of political organisations (parties).
According to the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest in Activities of Public Officials, a conflict of interest is a situation in which a person performing the duties of a public official has to take a decision or to participate in decision-making, or to perform other actions related to the public official’s position, which affect or may affect the personal or property interests of that public official, their relatives, or business partners.
According to the Law on Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau, corruption includes bribery or any other activity of a public official aimed at obtaining an undeserved advantage for themselves or others by using their official position, their powers, or by exceeding those powers.
The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau does not review matters that do not fall within the competence of the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau.
Illegal activities not investigated by the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau
The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau does not have the competence to investigate, for example, matters related to civil disputes between individuals, irregularities related to the ownership of immovable property, disputes on debt recovery, issues related to non-compliance with procedures set out in residential building management and management authorisation agreements, complaints concerning environmental pollution, criminal offences relating to theft, robbery, fraud, forgery of documents, unauthorised felling of trees, embezzlement, validity and legality of court decisions, complaints concerning interference in judicial proceedings or failure to comply with a court judgment, complaints concerning alleged non-compliance with criminal procedure legislation in criminal investigations, etc.
